The Group of European Cultural Institutes of New York presents cutting-edge and thought provoking artistic and intellectual European achievements to New York and U.S. audiences. We partner with eminent American and European institutions to provide programs in the arts, languages, education, and academia. Some of our members offer libraries and language courses. We share and create ideas and support each other.

F(O)UNDING CULTURE, Experience of Central Europe and the United States by EUNIC New York, 22 May
This one-day symposium will address the issue of supporting art, both financially and organizationally, using good examples from the Central Europe and the United States. In two discussion panels, artists, civil servants, businessmen, art managers and philanthropists will discuss the meaning of art in public diplomacy and business now and in the future. How can we learn from the experience of the USA and Central Europe and secure a sustainable development in the field of art and culture? Is there a space for mutual cooperation of institutions or shall we rely on supportive individuals only?
DISAPPEARING ACT V by EUNIC in New York, 10-21 April
The Czech Center, with European Union National Institutes for Culture and Other European Partners, Presents the Fifth Annual Edition of the Disappearing Act European Film.
Festival in New York to Run April 10-21, 2013. Expanding festival includes 24 contemporary films from 24 European countries with opening night at the IFC Center and screenings at the Bohemian National Hall and Museum of the Moving Image (MoMI).
New Literature from Europe by EUNIC in New York, 15 - 17 November
Literature has been inspired by the visual at least since the epics of Homer, and the lives of artists have been the subject of the novel since the dawn of the genre in the Nineteenth Century. NLE 2012, the ninth annual New Literature from Europe festival, asks why European writers are writing about art, about artists, and about the art world today.

Moving Sounds Festival by EUNIC in New York, 13 - 15 September
For the fourth consecutive year, the Austrian Cultural Forum New York has teamed up with the Argento New Music Project’s director, Michel Galante, to produce Moving Sounds, a festival dedicated to music, visual media and aesthetic dialogue that features emerging and pioneering artists who focus on electronically generated music, and those who are at the interface of classically instrumented and electronic music. This year was coproduced by the Czech Center New York and the German Consulate General.

Disappearing Act: strong presence for European films in NY
EUNIC in USA NY present Disappearing Act III, A Showcase of Current European Cinema in the recently opened digital cinema at Bohemian National Hall in Manhattan (6-14 April). The series features nineteen contemporary European films from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
New York Times: EUNIC a champion of Literary Translation
“For nations in Europe, be they small or large, literature will always be one of the keys of their cultural existence. We have established as a strategic objective, a long-term commitment to break through the American market”, said Corina Suteu, representative of EUNIC in USA New-York and director of the Romanian Cultural Institute NY, to the New York Times (8 December 2010 edition).
Perpetual Peace: more than a project
The Perpetual Peace Project (16 November 2009-9 january 2010) in New York is predicated on the belief that no single institution or individual can clearly claim or guarantee a mastery of the concept of peace. Today, as in Kant’s time, the concept of peace remains abstract and continues to be defined negatively as an absence of war. For this reason the project takes on initiatives within multiple institutions, to create the conditions for proposing yet again the idea of peace.
New York: Serbia in the spotlights
From 23 September 2010 to 9 January 2011, EUNIC in USA New York under the co-ordination of the Austrian Cultural Forum focuses on Serbia in contemporary art. On one hand, the title of this new exhibition, Serbia – Frequently asked questions, alludes to a multitude of questions and ambiguities Europe and the world have regarding today’s Serbia. On the other hand, positive expectations are also part of the equation.
