EUNIC joint declaration on changes to the Romanian Cultural Institute
EUNIC has issued a join declaration to express a concern about the recent change of the Romanian Cultural Institute's law, through an 'emergency ordinance' initiated by the present Romanian government. Accroding to the new law the focus of the Romanian Institute is shifted from representing, promoting and protecting the Romanian culture and civilization in Romania and abroad to " (...) enhance and amplify different forms of cultural relations with Romanian communities abroad, in order to preserve and perpetuate national identity, a goal of particular importance in the contect of globalization, including cultural globalization (...)"
