Launch of EUNIC Cluster in Tashkent, Uzbekistan
On 13 December 2011, the directors of the British Council Uzbekistan, Goethe-Institut Tashkent and l’Institut français d’Ouzbékistan signed the charter which oficially created the EUNIC Tashkent cluster.
At a press conference attended by journalists from TV, radio and the written and on-line press, the directors of the three institutions outlined the role and aims of the EUNIC network and outlined plans for future EUNIC Tashkent activity. Each speaking in his own language, the three directors underlined the purpose of EUNIC in sharing European values and showcasing European culture.
Potential projects for the future include a Festival of European Cinema in Tashkent to celebrate Europe Day on 9 May and events to celebrate World Music Day on 21 June and European Language Day on 26 September. The cluster will also aim to take part in events of the Uzbek cultural calendar such as Style.Uz Art and Fashion Week in October.
After the presentation of the EUNIC cluster, there was a question and answer session with journalists and then participants were invited to chat informally with the EUNIC cluster members at a reception.
