European Literature Night 2014 (14 May 2014 at the British Library)
ELN is an annual literary showcase bringing the best of the continent’s writers and contemporary European literature to the UK. Now in its 6th year, European Literature Night in London returns with an exciting double-bill night bringing together writers and graphic novelists. Both events will take place on 14 May 2014.
This year we’re celebrating European Literature Night with six of the best writers from around the continent. With Jonas T. Bengtsson (Denmark), Julia Franck (Germany), Antoine Laurain (France), Diego Marani (Italy), Witold Szablowski (Poland) and Dimitri Verhulst (Belgium), chaired by acclaimed journalist Rosie Goldsmith.
For the first time, European Literature Night explores this comics phenomenon by inviting acclaimed cartoonists to discuss and read from their fascinating works. Contemporary graphic novels from across Europe have never been more diverse and innovative and we will share this evening with with Line Hoven (Germany), Lucie Lomova (Czech Republic), Max (Spain) and Judith Vanistendael (Belgium/Flanders) in conversation with Paul Gravett.
European Literature Night is presented in partnership with EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) London, the European Commission Representation in the UK, the British Library, the Czech Centre London and Speaking Volumes Live Literature Productions. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England.
