Breaking the ice in the Australian summer
The brand new Australian cluster in Sydney held an inaugural debate on Arts Funding, Cultural Exchange and Soft Diplomacy - the Australian and European Ways, hosted by the Goethe-Institut on 12 January.
Sydney Festival director Lindy Hume, Kathy Keele, CEO of the Australia Council for the Arts, Thomas Ostermeier, Artistic Director of Berlin’s theatre Schaubühne and the Secretary General of the Goethe-Institut, Hans-Georg Knopp traded views and practices about the crossroads of arts and public funding.
The moderator was Tony MacGregor of ABC Radio National. MacGregor is the national Arts Editor for ABC Radio National, and has more than 20 years experience as a documentary maker, sound artist and broadcaster. In 2008 he won a Walkley Award for Excellence in Radio Documentary production.
