European Film Festival 2013 in Almaty by EUNIC Kazakhstan, 12-19 May
Between 12-19 May EUNIC Almaty will organise European Film Festival in the Caesar cinema, jointly with Oleg Boretskiy’s Cinema Club. During the Festival ten countries will present the 10 films from various European countries, going from Hungary and France to Turkey and Sweden. This film festival will start on the 12th of May with a movie from Switzerland and end on the 19th with one from Latvia. EUNIC Almaty was established by the Alliance Française Almaty, British Council, Comitato “Dante Alighieri” Almaty, Goethe-Institut Almaty and Consulate General of the Republic of Hungary in May 2011.
EUNIC Almaty Celebrates the European Day of Languages, 23 September
On 23 September EUNIC Kazakhstan organised CAFÉ.EUROPE to celebrate the 2012 European Day of Languages. The programme of CAFÉ.EUROPE included an exhibition of European education, theatrical and musical performances, prize awarding ceremony and a concert.
A prize awarding ceremony for winners of the EUNIC video competition “TwoFaces of Europe”, a prize draw for language courses and exams and a concert by The Powell’s, one of the most popular bands in Almaty formed the highlight of the day.
The event was supported by the Delegation of the European Commission to Kazakhstan and Czech Airlines.
EUNIC Almaty welcomes new member!
EUNIC Almaty welcomes the Swiss Embassy Astana as a new member. Ms. Marina Kochetova (4th from left) will participate actively in our next big activity, the celebration of the European Day of Languages with Café Europe on 23 September.
Goethe-Institut Almaty chairs EUNIC in Kazakhstan
The presidency of EUNIC was transferred from the British Council to the Goethe-Institut Almaty on the 18.06.2012.. Barbara Fraenkel-Thonet, Director of the Goethe-Institut (left) thanks Lena Milosevic, Marina Gayevskaya (right), and the team of the British Council for the leadership in the past year.
EUNIC Almaty Film Festival
Between the 13th and 19th of May 2012 EUNIC Almaty organised the `Week of European Films’ as part of the Year of Culture in Almaty. This was in partnership with Caesar Cinema Club, run by Kazakhstan cinema critic Oleg Boretskiy together with the support of the European Delegation, Almaty City Administration, Czech Airlines and the Honorary Consulates of Lithuania, Poland and Sweden.

May 13, 18.00 Children of Glory (Hungary, presented by Consulate General of the Republic of Hungary)
May 14, 19.00 Defenders of Riga (Latvia)
Preparations underway for European Film Festival in Almaty
EUNIC Almaty is organising a European Film Festival in May, 2012, which takes place in Caesar cinema theatre. This week long event will have one European film showing every day with the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Hungary, Poland and Latvia all represented. The exact schedule and the titles of the films are to be determined.
EUNIC Almaty celebrates the European Day of Languages
On 25 September EUNIC (European Union National Institutes for Culture) Almaty organised CAFÉ.EUROPE in ‘Chukotka’ night club to celebrate the European Day of Languages.
Almaty: first activity in Kazakhstan
EUNIC in Kazakhstan launched on 11 May 2011 with its first event: a concert of European classical music at the Kazakh Kurmangazy National Conservatoire.
The concert, performed by the talented young musicians of the Conservatoire, was enhanced by the presence of the Hungarian pianist György Oravecz who played four pieces by Ferenc Liszt.
