More than 500 attend European Day of Languages in Toronto
On September 23rd from 4 - 8pm, over 500 people visited the Goethe-Institut Toronto for the European Day of Languages by EUNIC in Canada.
The activities included:
•Free sample classes in German, Spanish, French, Polish, Italian and Finnish
•Specialized classes to check the potential of European languages in your life: "German for Lovers", "Italian for Opera Lovers", "French for Poets" and "Spanish for Travellers"
•Opera performance in several languages
•Salsa presentation
A truly EUNIC cocktail
To present EUNIC to a wider community in the Czech Republic, a EUNIC Cocktail was organised on 15 September 2010 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague. The leitmotif of the event was ‘Opening doors to European culture.’
Easier access for foreign artists to the US: Clinic on Visas
The Clinic on Visas for Artists is a EUNIC in USA NY project aimed at clarifying visa procedures for visiting artists. It will help cultural institutes and agencies in New York discuss how artists can most effectively and expeditiously obtain U.S. visas.
Road to Lviv: European writers at Ukraine's leading bookfair
EUNIC in Ukraine promoted European values and literature at the Lviv Book Forum (September 16-19) and the International Literary Festival (15-19 September). The western city of Lviv has been a major cultural center for centuries and the Forum is the biggest book related event in Ukraine, reaching in 2010 its 17th edition.
Winners claim prizes for Languages in My Family competition
Winners of the Languages in my Family poster competition will claim their prizes during the European Day of Languages celebrations in Bratislava.
Languages integrate! European Day of Languages in Warsaw
Lessons and workshops in several European languages, a multilingual conference, art performances, a city game and a film festival will be the main attractions of this year’s European Day of Languages in Warsaw, from 20 to 27 September. The festival of multilingual Europe starts already on 20 September and will take the whole week!
European Memory by cartoons
A touring exhibition introduced the European Union and its member states to teachers and their pupils, parents and their children in an original and playful form. This project of EUNIC in Austria originates into Czech cartoon TV-series European Memory, created in 2009 to mark the Czech Republic’s presidency of the EU.

Armenia: exploring national identity by collaborative European fashion design
Fashion Road: Dialogue across Borders is a 2-year collaborative project starting in November 2010 through which ten fashion designers from Armenia, UK, Germany, Romania, Denmark and Czech Republic will explore how aspects of national identity are incorporated into contemporary designs. The designers will study traditional costumes in the six countries, explore the role of those costumes in contemporary society, how people associate memories with clothing and how they preserve these memories.
Good ideas live old: two years of language café
Languages aficionados in Bratislava have celebrated on September 8 two years of Language café. The essence of a successful project is as often a simple recipe: language fans meet up and speak different languages in a cozy café atmosphere.
