Culture Past Culture Future European Youth Competition
The Culture Past Culture Future Competition is a joint EUNIC Greece project organised by the British Council, the Goethe-Institut, the Danish Institute, the Instituto Cervantes, the House of Cyprus, the Swedish Institute and the Hellenic Foundation of Culture in partnership with the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.
Major player at Belgrade Book Fair
EUNIC in Serbia has turned into a major attraction of the Belgrade Book Fair (26 October – 1 November 2009). The event was far reaching, featuring more than 800 domestic and foreign exhibitors. The 150 000 strong audience makes the Belgrade Book Fair both the country's largest literary festival and cultural event altogether. With six members involved, the project capitalised on 2007 and 2008 experiences and highlighted EUNIC's commitment to a cultural dialogue between East and West.
Shaping the future of public television
An impressive 60 Bosnian TV professionals at the opening evening and 30 at the screenings and debates, along with three guests from Croatia and Montenegro, attended the mini-INPUT conference in Sarajevo (19-21. November 2009) organised by EUNIC in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). Bosnia has recently joined INPUT, a global, voluntary organisation aiming to showcase, inspire and lead television programmes in the public service.
The Swedish Institute threads new path: attracting migrant workers into Sweden
The Swedish Institute (SI) spearheads the charm campaign to attract foreign labour force into the country. The SI launched on behalf of the Swedish Ministry of Justice a web portal to attract workers from countries outside EU to Sweden.
Big scope for European contemporary playwrights in Copenhagen
EUNIC in Denmark and the Husets Teater in Copenhagen launched in June 2009 the Festival of the European Contemporary Playwrights. Eight contemporary European playwrights gathered at the Husets for a week long seminar, workshop, and festival (15-20 June).
The new, short and daring faces of European film
EUNIC in Stockholm will present for the second consecutive year the new, daring and worldwide acclaimed European short films at the Kulturhuset on Sunday 18 April 2010 in the REX (Recent Experimental Short Films) festival.
When cultural institutes own the night
From dusk till dawn, EUNIC in Romania set the rhythm to Bucharest, on the night of Friday, 26 June 2009. The third Night of Cultural Institutes was one of the highest profile cultural happenings of the capital city throughout the year.
Managing the past in European films
A five-day European film festival in Chennai (9-13 November 2009), organised by the Austrian Cultural Forum New Delhi and the Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation on behalf of EUNIC in India, met an enthusiastic reception at the South Indian Film Chamber theatre Anna Salai.
